Inventor Amanda Jones speaks to Year 7 & 8
On Friday 28th November 3 different companies all collaborated on one day “Earth Event” which Speakeasy4schools organised for the day.
Amanda Jones the inventor was present all day along with Paul Harrison, Manager from CHP Consulting, who helped to support the teams and judged the winning idea and team. She said "It was a pleasure to visit Gumley House with the Speakeasy team, a real inspiration to meet so many vibrant and talented young women.’’
The Brief for our students is to think about “How could your School/Community/World be more Sustainable?” Amanda Jones has her own company and was recently on Dragons Den, all the dragons wanted to invest in her product. She accepted but then got the £50k start up money from the Oxford Said Business School, this was great for her as she didn’t have to give away any of her equity. However she has recently gone back to the Dragons to ask for an investment of £150k to take her product to the next stage. What has she invented? “A Reverse Osmosis Sanitation System” which is a water transport and storage device to help people without access to safe water in third world territories.
